Croatian pearl called Puubi
In AWC (Agility World Championships) in Helsinki in 2000 we saw an
agile, fast and pretty dog running the courses and just loved it. Then
we decided that our next breed would be Croatian Sheepdog. It wasn't
easy to find a puppy, but after some searching we found Alen Marekovic's
homepage in the web. Alen was the competitor in Helsinki with his
lovely Croat Drava Certisa "Cita".
With Alen's kind and friendly help, in February 2002, we got our
knowingly the first Croatian sheepdog to Finland. She was 8 weeks old
at the time and her official name is Biba. Biba is a shortened word
from Croatian word Biserka which means Pearl Lady. The name describes
our Puubi well, she really is a true pearl.
Right from the beginning Puubi showed us how much she preciated
Finnish designing. So our furniture, carpets, shoes ect. weren't safe
from her. Nowadays she makes less damage, she only decorates our
grandmother's handmade towels and pillows.
Puubi is sensitive and agile dog. She's not very keen on strangers but
she acts friendly. She likes licking people in the face and
hands. When you get to know Puubi, she is the best friend in the world.
Puubi is very active girl. We buyed her for agility and she has really
shown to be the right type for it. Puubi competes in large 3 class
and she is the first Croatian sheepdog which got the titel
Finnish Agility Champion. She is also the very first double Champion
Croat in Finland.
Puubi is great with children. Actually Puubi is our daughter's,
Sanna's dog. Puubi walks nicely with her and they also practise
agility and dogshows together.
